I’ve been with Emmanuel Hospice for about 5 years now, and this job has shaped me in ways I never saw coming. I’ve cried into my steering wheel, laughed with families until my stomach hurt, and powered through long days fueled almost entirely by pure willpower and whatever I grabbed from Biggby on the way in. I’ve cared for so many people at the end of their lives, and every single one has taught me something. How precious time is. How love shows up in weird, beautiful ways. How a calm voice or a warm touch can shift an entire room. And how families will absolutely try to send you home with cookies even when you swear you’re fine.

This fundraiser? It helps keep all the good stuff going. The music that settles anxious breathing. The massage therapy sessions that ease pain. The little moments of peace that make a family exhale for the first time all day. These things aren’t “extras.” They’re the magic ingredients that turn fear into comfort.
